Virginia Commonwealth University – Front Doors

As one of the first initiatives to be implemented from the One VCU Master Plan, the “Front Doors” projects

at the intersections of Shafer & Franklin Street and Linden & Main St. serve to create pedestrian-friendly and

visually-recognizable thresholds at major entrances to campus.

The projects include curb extensions to calm traffic and shorten pedestrian street crossings, improved
accessibility and placemaking through an expanded plaza, site furnishings, and new plantings.
