Waterstreet Studio worked closely with VMDO Architects on this Award-winning, LEED Certified K-8 public school in Dillwyn, VA.

Landscape elements include outdoor spaces that included community gardens, edible landscapes, “fun stairs,” an outdoor dining area and classroom terraces for toddlers through second graders and for third through fifth graders. A rainwater harvesting system collects runoff from the existing buildings for reuse in irrigation, fire suppression, and sanitary systems. Captured rainwater rills, constructed wetlands, recreation fields, and pedestrian trails organize this campus around its functions within and amidst the community.
