VCU Front Doors - Phase 2

VCU Front Doors - Phase 2

$0.00

A continuation of the “Front Doors” initiative at Virginia Commonwealth University, a multi-phased endeavor to enhance the sense of arrival and visual identity of the University within the dense urban fabric of Richmond. The project, at the highly visible corner at the intersection of Cary St. & Harrison St., transformed a simple pathway through a triangular lawn panel into a lively grove of native yellowwood trees, with spaces for social encounters and rest. Pedestrian pathways were simplified and enhanced with new clay pavers, and an iconic signage wall defines the edge of the Campus, simultaneously defining a threshold while creating an inviting gateway into VCU.
